Education: Joe received his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, with focus on exercise physiology and movement and learning, from the University of Illinois in 2004. While working on his degree, he was an active member of the Navy ROTC program and also worked as a personal trainer and fitness consultant for the university's Recreation Services. After his collegiate career, he served four years as an surface warfare/athletics officer in the US Navy.
Clinically: Joe Themig joined Northern Rehab in the Summer of 2009. At Northern Rehab, Joe has been coordinating Performance Enhancement, Balance Classes, and Independent Functional Strength programs. He offers intense and effective sport and conditioning training programs for a variety of individual and team sports. He is also conducting educational seminars on training and performance enhancement for local coaches and athletes of all ages. In the clinic, Joe has been working with post-rehabilitation individuals on implementing personalized exercise programs.
Socially: Joe plays ice hockey for the Northern Illinois
University club team and
volunteers with USA Hockey. He enjoys
music, exercise,
sports, snowboarding and spending time with friends,
and volunteers with local and national dog
shelter and rescue services.
What type of treatment will
I receive?
Treatment is based on the initial examination findings along with ongoing reassessment and evaluation. Treatment may consist of a variety of hands-on joint and soft tissue treatment techniques, gentle exercise techniques, pain reducing modalities, and education in self-management skills.
