Physical therapy treatment addresses back pain by assessing the muscles, tendons, ligaments, nerves, bones, and joints in that region of the body.  Low back pain may also accompany mid back/rib dysfunction, hip, sacral/buttock, and leg pain.  Low back pain is extremely common.  Common causes of back pain include sprains and strains due to excessive stress to the back, herniated discs, which can protrude and cause pain down your leg, and fractured vertebrae, which can be due to osteoporosis.  The lower back is a complex area connecting the upper body and lower body and provides the body with power and mobility, allowing turning, twisting, and bending.  If back pain is chronic or reoccurring, you should seek a physical therapist to relieve your pain and to address muscle imbalances to manage your complaint.
